Lord of Chaos

Jahar Narishma comes to the Farm outside of Caemlyn, where Mazrim Taim is training the men he has recruited how to wield Saidin. Taim discovers that he has the spark and is quite powerful.

When Rand comes to address the men at the Farm, though, he does not receive a Dedicated pin, and remains a soldier.

During the battle at Dumai's Wells, Taim takes Narishma, and the other Asha'man, to fight and rescue Rand from Tower Aes Sedai's embassy, who have taken Rand and are on their way to the White Tower. The Asha'man prove their power and wreck havoc, devastating their enemies.

A Crown of Swords

In the aftermath of the battle at Dumai's Wells, Rand chooses Narishma, along with eight other Asha'man, to accompany him back to Cairhien.

When Rand meets with the nobles in the Grand Hall in the Sun Palace, to confront Colavaere Saigan, who had taken the throne in Rand's absence, Narishma shields Annoura, an Aes Sedai whom Colavaere had taken as a retainer along with Berelain.

When Rand meets with the Sea Folk, Narishma and another Asha'man, Corlan Dashiva, go with him, but they wait outside while Rand makes the Bargain inside the ship.

After Rand is attacked by Fain while he is visiting Darlin, and is wounded by Fain's dagger, he is brought to his bed chambers where Dashiva and Flinn enter with Narishma. Narishma stands by and is on guard, watching the Aes Sedai in the room, as Flinn attempts to Heal Rand. He blocks Samitsu when she tries to stop Flinn. When Rand awakens, Narishma is there with the other Asha'man. He then goes with Rand to the strike on Illian.

Path of Daggers

Rand sends Narishma back to Cairhien to deliver a message to Min that they have taken Illian. He is promoted at this time, to Dedicated and is given a sword pin. When Torval comes to the camp from the Black Tower, Narishma is sent by Rand to watch him.

After Rand announces that he has plans to cleanse Saidin, he sends Narishma to the Stone of Tear in order to collect Callandor for him. While in the Stone, he almost gets killed by the wards that Rand had set.

He and the Asha'man assist in the attack on the Seanchan in Altara.

Back in the Sun Palace in Cairhien, Dashiva, Gedwyn, and Rochaid reveal themselves as Darkfriends and begin attacking everyone, and Narishma goes to hide with Rand and Flinn. He and the other Asha'man decide to stay in the Sun Palace, and not go back to the Black Tower so they would not get blamed for the attack.

Winter's Heart

Back at the Black Tower, Narishma and the others are listed as deserters by Taim.

Merise Haindehl, one of the Aes Sedai following Cadsuane, ends up bonding Narishma as her warder. Narishma goes with Cadsuane's party when they follow Rand to Far Madding. When Rand is put in a cell, Narishma assists in breaking him out.

They all go to Shadar Logoth, where Rand, with Nynaeve, cleanse Saidin. During the Cleansing, Narishma, the Asha'man, and the Aes Sedai, make several links, in order to be more powerful to fend off the Forsaken, who have been drawn to this location by the immense use of the Power. He is linked to Merise and Elza, and he uses Callandor, although Elza controls the flows.

He spends some time practicing the sword with Lan and he continues to grow in power exponentially with the One Power.

Merise and Narishma accompany Rand to the meeting with the false Daughter of the Nine Moons, who is actually Semhirage. Narishma is injured during the battle, then healed by Merise.

He watches as Merise interrogates Semirhage. He escorts Merise to Rand's room after Semirhage's escape. Rand teaches him how to use balefire to destroy the Forsaken.

Narishma then transports Dobraine and his men to Tear. He goes with Rand to Falme, where he meets with the real Tuon, Daughter of the Nine Moons, so Rand could try to bring the Seanchan to his side.

He rides with Rand when Rand goes to meet the Borderlander rulers inside Far Madding. On return to Tear, Rand sends Narishma back to the Borderlander army to say that Rand accepts their terms and that he wishes to meet with them.

Since the Cleansing of Saidin, Nynaeve is able to Heal his, and the other Asha'man's madness that was caused by the Taint.
